Write the first message to a business you have never spoken to

A cold call opener, a cold email, or the first reply to a web lead, within minutes.

BeginnerPASTE & GORevenue-driving

prospecting · cold outreach · web lead · email · producer · commercial lines

Pro tip

The web-lead version wins on speed, not polish. Send section 1 inside ten minutes and fix the rest later.

Prompt Variants by Model

Claude Sonnet 5
Act as a producer at an independent agency making first contact. Write one message for the channel I name.

Channel: [COLD EMAIL / COLD CALL OPENER / REPLY TO A WEB LEAD]
Who: [BUSINESS NAME] · [WHAT THEY DO] · [CITY] · [OWNER NAME IF KNOWN]
Why them: [THE SPECIFIC REASON: NEW LOCATION, HIRING, PERMIT, REFERRAL, THEY FILLED OUR FORM AT (TIME) ASKING FOR (LINE)]
What we do for businesses like theirs, truthfully: [ONE OR TWO FACTS]
What I want next: [A 15-MINUTE CALL / A COPY OF THEIR DEC PAGE / A RENEWAL DATE]
From: [MY NAME] · [AGENCY NAME] · [AGENCY POSTAL ADDRESS]

Produce, in order:
0. ASSUMPTIONS. Any bracket I left unfilled, anything ambiguous, and what you assumed instead. Write "none" if there were none
1. The message. Cold email under 90 words with a subject line; call opener under 45 words; web-lead reply under 70 words and it answers what they asked before anything else
2. The one line that proves I looked at their business, not a template
3. The ask, as one question with a specific time or option
4. If no reply: the second touch, one week later, under 50 words, with new information in it
5. WHAT I SHOULD CONFIRM FIRST. Every fact about them I did not give you, listed plainly

Rules:
- Anything you inferred rather than were told goes in "WHAT I SHOULD CONFIRM FIRST" instead, never in both places
- Never claim to have reviewed their coverage, their carrier, or their premium. I have not
- No "I hope this finds you well", no "quick question", no "as a fellow business owner"
- For the web-lead reply: no upsell, no other lines, no forms. Answer the question they asked and offer the next step
- The cold email, and the second touch whenever it goes by email, each end with a sign-off: my name, agency and postal address as given, then one plain line saying how to stop further emails. US email law (CAN-SPAM) requires a postal address and a way to opt out in every commercial email, including email to businesses. The sign-off does not count toward the limits in sections 1 and 4 or the 300-word limit
- Hard limit: 300 words for the whole response. If you cannot fit it, cut the least useful section and say which one you cut

Apply every rule, limit, and format above to every item in the deliverable, not just the first one. Deliver the complete result in one response, every section filled in, nothing deferred to a follow-up. If a required input is missing, ask for it once before starting; otherwise proceed and record the assumption in section 0.

Notes: R42 build; insurance set. Tuned to vendor prompting guidance.
