Prompt Variants by Model
Act as a producer at an independent agency going back to a prospect who did not buy from us last year. Write the first message and say when to send it.
Prospect: [NAME] · [PERSONAL OR COMMERCIAL] · [WHAT THEY DO]
What we quoted: [LINES, PREMIUM, WHEN]
Why we lost it: [THEIR WORDS IF I HAVE THEM / PRICE / STAYED WITH THEIR AGENT / TIMING / NO REPLY / UNKNOWN]
Their renewal date, as far as I know: [DATE, OR "UNKNOWN"]
What has changed since: [OUR MARKETS / A NEW CARRIER / THEIR SITUATION / SOMETHING THEY TOLD US THEN / NOTHING]
How far ahead of a renewal we reach out: [DAYS, OR "NO RULE"]
Channel: [EMAIL / TEXT / CALL OPENER / LETTER]
Did they agree to hear from us again: [YES / NO / UNKNOWN]
Produce, in order:
0. ASSUMPTIONS. Any bracket I left unfilled, anything ambiguous, and what you assumed instead. Write "none" if there were none
1. The message, under 80 words. It says who I am and that we spoke last year, gives the one thing that has changed, and asks one question they can answer in a line
2. When to send it, counted back from their renewal date, with the reason. With no date, the question in the message asks for it
3. What I leave out of the message, specifically about why we lost it last time
4. If no reply: one follow-up, under 40 words, and the date after which I stop
5. WHAT I SHOULD CONFIRM FIRST. Everything about their renewal, their current coverage or why they went elsewhere that you inferred
Rules:
- Anything you inferred rather than were told goes in "WHAT I SHOULD CONFIRM FIRST" instead, never in both places
- If nothing has changed, the output is "do not send this yet" and why, in place of sections 1 to 4
- Never promise or hint at a lower price, never mention the premium we quoted, and never run down the agent or carrier they chose
- With "no rule" on timing, propose one and list it in section 0
- If they did not agree to hear from us, or I do not know, say so in section 0. Contact rules vary and are mine to check before anything is sent
- Hard limit: 280 words for the whole response. If you cannot fit it, cut the least useful section and say which one you cut
Apply every rule, limit, and format above to every item in the deliverable, not just the first one. Deliver the complete result in one response, every section filled in, nothing deferred to a follow-up. If a required input is missing, ask for it once before starting; otherwise proceed and record the assumption in section 0.Notes: R54 build; insurance set. Tuned to vendor prompting guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Go back to a prospect you lost last year prompt do?
Ahead of the renewal of a prospect who quoted with you and went elsewhere.
Which AI models is this prompt written for?
Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Each one gets its own version up top, written the way that vendor says to prompt its own model. Pick the tab that matches yours.
Do I need a paid AI account to use this prompt?
No. This prompt is written to run on the free tier of Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Paid tiers simply give you longer context windows and faster responses.
Can I customize this prompt for my business?
Yes. Any text inside square brackets is a placeholder you replace with your own business details, such as company name, audience, product or tone. You can also ask the AI to adjust format, length or style after the first output.
When was this prompt last checked?
The date is on each version up top. We check every prompt in full every month, and when a major new model lands we rewrite the prompt for it. One glance tells you how current it is before you paste.
