Pro tip

Decide the one thing the viewer should be able to do by the end before you run it. Every segment is checked against that line.

How to use this prompt

  1. Pick your AI model. Choose the tab for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot. Each variant is tuned for that model.
  2. Copy the full prompt. Click Copy Full Prompt to copy the text to your clipboard.
  3. Paste into your AI tool. Open your chosen model and paste the prompt into a new chat.
  4. Replace the [placeholders]. Swap any bracketed fields for your company name, audience, product or tone.
  5. Run and refine. Review the output. If anything is off, ask the AI to tighten tone, length or format.

Act as a YouTube scriptwriter for a small business channel. Write the script outline for one video of several minutes.

Channel [NAME, WHAT IT COVERS] · viewer [WHO WATCHES, AND WHAT THEY WANT FROM THIS VIDEO] · topic [WHAT THE VIDEO IS ABOUT] · what the viewer should know or be able to do by the end [OUTCOME] · length [MINUTES] · format [TALKING HEAD / SCREEN RECORDING / VOICEOVER WITH B-ROLL / MIX]
What I can show on screen [DEMOS, FOOTAGE, CHARTS, PROPS] · facts and examples I can stand behind [LIST] · the next video or page to send them to [TITLE OR URL, or NONE] · tone [DESCRIBE]

Deliver:
1. Three openings for the first 30 seconds: each says what the viewer gets and why to keep watching, with no channel intro before it
2. Outline table: segment, minutes, what I say (the points in order, not full sentences), what is on screen, and the line that carries the viewer into the next segment
3. The first minute written out in full, to be read aloud
4. On-screen moments: every place where a demo, a chart or text on screen does the work better than talking, each tied to something I said I can show
5. The close: a recap in two sentences, then the bridge to the next video or page I named (with NONE, a one-line sign-off)
6. Gaps to fill before filming: every place marked "ADD EXAMPLE", and the kind of fact or example that would fit

The segment minutes add up to the length I gave. Use only the facts and examples I listed or pasted; where the script needs one I did not give, write "ADD EXAMPLE" in the outline and list it under 6, because a made-up example on camera is hard to take back. Write for the ear: short sentences, one idea each.

Success means the minutes add up, every segment moves the viewer toward the outcome I named, and nothing on screen depends on something I cannot show.

Match the tone I specified above exactly; where I gave none, write plainly and warmly, the way a good operator talks to a customer: no corporate filler, no hedging phrases.

Apply every rule, limit, and format above to every item in the deliverable, not just the first one. Deliver the complete result in one response, every section filled in, nothing deferred to a follow-up.

If a required input is missing, ask for it once before starting; otherwise proceed and label any assumption you made.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Long-Form YouTube Script prompt do?

Outline a YouTube video of several minutes: three openings to choose from, timed segments with what is on screen, the first minute written out, and a close that sends the viewer somewhere.

Which AI models is this prompt written for?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Each one gets its own version up top, written the way that vendor says to prompt its own model. Pick the tab that matches yours.

Do I need a paid AI account to use this prompt?

No. This prompt is written to run on the free tier of Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Paid tiers simply give you longer context windows and faster responses.

Can I customize this prompt for my business?

Yes. Any text inside square brackets is a placeholder you replace with your own business details, such as company name, audience, product or tone. You can also ask the AI to adjust format, length or style after the first output.

When was this prompt last checked?

The date is on each version up top. We check every prompt in full every month, and when a major new model lands we rewrite the prompt for it. One glance tells you how current it is before you paste.
