Pro tip

Journalists get 300+ pitches per day. Your subject line has 3 seconds. Lead with what is newsworthy for THEIR audience, not what is exciting for YOUR company. The follow-up should offer a new angle, not just repeat the first pitch.

Act as a PR strategist. Write a 3-email media pitch sequence.

Business: [NAME] — [WHAT YOU DO] · story angle [WHAT IS NEWSWORTHY FOR THEIR AUDIENCE] · target outlet [PUBLICATION/PODCAST/BLOG] · journalist [NAME OR BEAT] · proof points [DATA, TRACTION, UNIQUE ANGLE] · exclusive on offer [ANYTHING]

Email 1 — Initial pitch: subject under 8 words; ≤150 words; leads with their audience's hook; one proof point; one ask; no attachment.
Email 2 — Follow-up (3-5 days): ≤100 words; a new angle (fresh data, customer story, timely hook) — nothing repeated from email 1.
Email 3 — Value-add (7-10 days): ≤75 words; something useful for their beat; positions me as a future source; no hard ask.

Add send timing and how to handle each likely response.

Every angle, figure, customer story and offer in the three emails comes from my inputs. If I supplied too little for a new angle in email 2 or a useful item in email 3, do not invent one: write that email with a marked gap, "ADD:" and what is needed, and list those needs after the sequence. A journalist who checks one invented figure does not open the next pitch.

Success means each email works from the journalist's side of the desk — the first sentence is about their readers, not about me.

Match the tone I specified above exactly; where I gave none, write plainly and warmly, the way a good operator talks to a customer — no corporate filler, no hedging phrases.

Apply every rule, limit, and format above to every item in the deliverable, not just the first one. Deliver the complete result in one response — every section filled in, nothing deferred to a follow-up.

If a required input is missing, ask for it once before starting; otherwise proceed and label any assumption you made.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Media Pitch Email Sequence prompt do?

Generate a 3-email pitch sequence for reaching journalists, podcasters, and bloggers, including the initial pitch, a follow-up with a different angle, and a final value-add touch. Each email is personalized to the outlet type.

Which AI models is this prompt written for?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Each one gets its own version up top, written the way that vendor says to prompt its own model. Pick the tab that matches yours.

Do I need a paid AI account to use this prompt?

No. This prompt is written to run on the free tier of Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot. Paid tiers simply give you longer context windows and faster responses.

Can I customize this prompt for my business?

Yes. Any text inside square brackets is a placeholder you replace with your own business details, such as company name, audience, product or tone. You can also ask the AI to adjust format, length or style after the first output.

When was this prompt last checked?

The date is on each version up top. We check every prompt in full every month, and when a major new model lands we rewrite the prompt for it. One glance tells you how current it is before you paste.
